TLC Exceeds Their Goal For Kick-starter Campaign In 4 Days

We recently reported that T-Boz and Chilli of TLC creating a Kickstarter campaign to raise $150,000 for their 5th and final album and just 4 days after they announced the campaign the group has already exceeded their goal by raising $203,098. Katy Perry was one of their biggest donator after she gave $5,000 towards their goal.

“With 27 days left in their campaign, TLC has collected $203,098 and has 1, 937 backers. Surprisingly, one of their backers is pop princess Katy Perry. The “Dark Horse” singer donated $5,000 to the duo’s campaign, which gives her the option to choose from two rewards: a slumber party with Chilli in Los Angeles or with T-Boz in Atlanta or a onesie.” (AllHipHop)

Bobby Shmurda Refusing To Accept Bail Money From Family

Bobby Shmurda has been in jail since last year and the rapper’s uncles have offered to pay for him to get bailed out, but the New York rapper is refusing their offer because he thinks they’re using money they stole from him to get him out.

“Brothers Debo and Calvin Wilson, the co-owners of Hard Tymes Records, say Shmurda, their nephew, used Instagram to accuse them of taking $20,000 from him. The Wilson brothers said they proved they didn’t take the money, but the “Hot Ni**a” rapper still hasn’t said a word to them since.
“We just want to make sure he’s alright; that he’s safe,” Calvin Wilson said. “We’re his family, and we’d never turn our backs against him.”
The men said they bailed Shmurda out of jail the last time he got locked up, and wanted to bury the hatchet by posting his bail this time too.
But Shmurda won’t have it. Bossip witnessed the Brooklyn native refuse Calvin Wilson’s visit last week at Riker’s Island, and told him through a jail guard that coming back would be a waste of time.
The record label CEOs say they’ve only had Shmurda’s best interests in mind. Calvin Wilson said they helped negotiate Shmurda’s $2.5 million record contract and spent $80,000 to get “Hot Ni**a” on the radio.
“We always had his back,” Calvin Wilson said. “We showed him love. We tried to show him the ins and outs of the game.”
They said they were angry over the “disrespectful” way Shmurda shaded them on social media.
“If he felt that the money was taken, he could’ve come to us,” Calvin Wilson told Bossip. “To tell the world, you’re tarnishing the record label’s name. People don’t want nothing to do with you when they see stuff like hat, so it’s not fair.”” (Bossip)

Eminem Will Not Be Releasing 'Roots' Album

The internet exploded yesterday when reports claimed Eminem will be dropping his “Roots” album this year, but according to Em’s publicist the claims are “Completely untrue” and “There’s no album announcement coming.”

Jay Z Reportedly Buying Hot 97 Radio Station

Funkmaster Flex recently blasted Jay Z and reports originally suggested that the beef between the two was over some kind of Dipset beef, but now new reports claim Jay is thinking about buying the station Flex works for, Hot 97. The reports claim Jay has teamed up with a group of investors to try and buy out the legendary New York radio station.

Reason For August Alsina Brawl Revealed

We reported yesterday on August Alsina getting into a fight with a concert promoter at a non-violence charity event. Although the original reports claimed the fight was over Alsina being late, new reports claim the R&B singer got offended when he found out he was performing before Atlanta rap group Migos.
According to reports, Alsina was upset that he was an opening act instead of the main act.

“TMZ obtained this new video of the brawl that went down backstage at a St. Louis concert … and it shows R&B star Alsina actually did get at least one punch in on Loose Cannon Slim, the promoter. It was unclear in our first clip of the fight.
Sources close to Slim tell TMZ by the time punches started flying … security guards for the venue had already detained Slim’s posse following an earlier dressing room scrap with Alsina — so it was never a fair fight.
As for why the fight went down — we’re told double-A was offended he had to perform before the group Migos … because, in his mind, he’s way bigger than the “Versace” rappers.” (TMZ)

ASAP Yams' Roommate Found His Body;Cause Of Death Is Still Unknown

We recently reported on the co-founder of the A$AP Mob, A$AP Yams, passing away on Sunday (Jan.18). Although there has yet to be an official cause of death, new reports claim that Yams’ roommate found him unconscious and unresponsive in their home. A spokesperson for the Chief Medical Examiner of NYC told the Fader that they performed an examination on Yams’ body when they first got to him, but they weren’t able to figure out the cause of death at that time.

“According to the NYPD, Yams, born Steven Rodriguez, was taken to Brooklyn’s Woodhull Medical Center and pronounced dead after his roommate found him laying down unconscious and unresponsive.
Julie Bolcer, a spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of New York City, told the Fader that an initial examination was performed on Yams’ body but “following the examination, the cause and manner of death are pending further studies.” A more thorough report is expected in the coming weeks.” (AllHipHop)

Stevie Wonder recently sat down with GQ and had nothing but great things to say about Compton’s Kendrick Lamar. During the interview, Wonder not only praises Lamar, but says the younger generation as a whole is doing great things.

Freeway Rick Ross Gives Bobby Shmurda Some Jail Advice

Bobby Shmurda is facing some major time behind bars and Freeway Rick Ross has decided to give the young rapper some advice while being in jail. Freeway spoke with AllHipHop and recalled his own time spent being locked up and even gave Shmurda some book suggestions while he is in jail.

“What I did with prison is I turned my prison cell into a college,” he said. “An old guy told me in prison, ‘You can get your college degree two places: you can get it at Penn State or the state pen.’ With my situation I found out that I was gonna wind up getting mine from the state pen. So I turned my prison cell into a university. I read over 300 books. By the way, I was totally illiterate when I went to prison, had never read a book. I read over 300 books before I left, I don’t know how many magazines, newspapers. I read the L.A. Times everyday. I read the Wall Street Journal everyday. I read the USA everyday. Sometimes I’d read the New York Times. I educated myself and I think that’s what he should do. By the way, I’m gonna give you my three favorite books, same books I sent to Boosie, if I get your address I’m gon’ send’em to you: The Richest Man In Babylon, Think And Grow Rich, and As A Man Thinketh. You can’t go wrong with them three books. If you take them principles they gon’ make your jail cell a lot easier.”

Freeway also spoke on how he felt about ending his beef with rapper Rick Ross.

“I think he would be stronger with me than without me,” he added. “I don’t know if he knows it or not or if his handlers are not smart enough to realize that the country is divided. It’s probably getting more divided in my half. I’m out here in the streets, I’m going to the projects, I’m going to the slums. I’m going places that he can’t go or won’t go or for whatever reason…I believe I’m winning the streets over. Eventually it’s gonna be a position to where he’s almost boxing himself in.”

Young Jeezy Bought $1.5 million Mansion During Weapons Case

Young Jeezy recently had weapons charges he was facing dismissed and it seems the Atlanta rapper was not fazed by the charges, because new reports claim Jeezy dropped a lot of money on a new Georgia mansion a month before the verdict was delivered.
According to reports, Jeezy purchased a $1.5 million mansion a month before he knew the charges were going to be dropped.

Eminem To Release "Roots" Album This Year?

Some big news is coming out the Shady camp. According to Hip-Hop Vibe, Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, will release a new album entitled “Roots“.

While not much has been revealed, an official announcement of the project is slated to launch during this years Grammy Awards.



“Roots” will be Em’s ninth solo album. All hail the Rap God.

Lil Wayne disses Birdman and cash money on "Sorry 4 the wait 2"

Lil Wayne released his long awaited ‘Sorry 4 The Wait 2’ mixtape and towards the beginning of the project Wayne takes the time to not only confirm the beef between Birdman, but go as far as dissing Cash Money Records.

In the first track, Wayne addresses his issues with Cash Money and Birdman and even takes the responsibility for the ongoing success of the label.

“Tha Carter gon’ be late so I cooked up a tape,” he says in the intro, “The garden’s full of snakes so I had to escape.”
“Who kept this shit together? Nigga, me, that’s who,” he raps in the opening bars, “Who was there when niggas left? Nigga, me, that’s who / Cash Money is an army, I’m a one man army / And if them niggas comin’ for me, I’m goin’ out like Tony.”
“Now I don’t want no problems, I just want my money,” he adds in the verse before referencing his alienation from the label: “Birdman Jr., more like Ugly Duckling.” (HipHopDX)

Wayne also uses the second track titled, “Shit”, to address his issues with the label again.

Bobby Shmurda gun case dropped

Bobby Shmurda is facing some serious legal problems after being arrested last year, but the New York rapper has received some good news. Bobby’s lawyers spoke with Revolt and revealed that one of his client’s cases is going to be dropped.

“Brooklyn D.A. office announced that the gun case in Brooklyn will be dismissed in about two weeks,” said attorney Howard Greenberg. “Brooklyn is done and now it’s on to Manhattan, where we need to teach these adversaries a lesson.” (AllHipHop)

Shmurda is set to appear in court on January 29th for the second degree murder, assault, weapons, and narcotics charges he is facing in Manhattan. He has pleaded not guilty.
