Dr.Dre Has Signed Justin Mohrle To Aftermath Records

Dr. Dre has signed a new artist.

Garland, TX native Justin Mohrle has recently been added to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, reports D Magazine.

According to a new profile piece published by the Dallas-based publication, Dre discovered the 23-year-old white rapper after he heard a demo he made with the assistance of The D.O.C.

Since Morhle arrived in California, he's been spending his time in 13-hour writing and recording sessions at the iconic producer's go-to studio, Record One.

"JT and I worked on a couple songs; Dre fell in love with the songs; Dre stole the songs from the kid, because he wanted to put them out as a unit," The D.O.C. told the magazine. "That’s the way this house is rolling. We’re all putting our energy toward building another classic for The Good Doctor. Then he’s going to take his time to help us build a classic for the youngster."

Though he won't be releasing any new music until Christmas, Mohrle says he's worked with King Mez, BJ The Chicago Kid and Gwen Stefani.

For now, he's reveling in the moment, but the young rapper understands the possibility of what fame may bring.

“With the situation I’m in, Dre could decide to drop a track tomorrow, and then I might not be able to ever go to the mall again like this. By myself,” he said.

Drake Releasing New Mixtape,According To P Reign

While speaking with Karen Civil, Toronto rapper P Reign confirmed that a mixtape from Drake is on the way.

He went on to state that the project is “crazy” and features some of Drizzy’s best material.

“I know Drake’s dropping a mixtape that I’ve already heard a lot of and it’s crazy,” Reign said during an interview with the blog. “I think it’s some of the best I’ve heard from him in my life and I already know off Drake’s mixtape the world is going to shake.”

Reign, who's recent hit "DnF" features the Young Money artist, did not disclose when the project would be released.

Two months ago, Toronto Raptors' guard DeMar DeRozan revealed on live television that the untitled mixtape would be released this month.

“I talked to him the other night,” DeRozan said on NBA TV. “Actually, he said he wants to give me his mixtape that come out in January.”

Despite comments from both P Reign and DeRozan, Drake has yet to address the alleged mixtape.

His forthcoming album, Views From The 6, is scheduled to be released later this year.

The 2015 Hip Hop World Championship,Will Be Held In San Diego

This year, the Hip Hop World Championships will be held in San Diego, CA.

Although the event isn't scheduled until August, several of the participants and organizers recently stopped by San Diego State University's Viejas Arena to scope out the scene.

According to NBC San Diego, the "Olympics of Hip Hop" is slated to draw over 3,500 dancers from more than 50 nations.

The competition was previously held in Las Vegas for the past seven years. Hip Hop international, the organization responsible for the event announced last year, that the World Championship finals will take place at Harrah’s Resort.

Hip Hop International's co-founder, Howard Schwartz, says many of the dancers come from the Southern California region.

"In every area of the world, right now as we speak, there is an event going on," Schwartz tells NBC San Diego. "It could be in Colombia, it could be in Paris, it could be in Brazil or it could be in Nigeria. All over the world there are crews performing and training to win their national championship to get here – San Diego – for the World Championship this summer."

The Hip Hop World Championships are scheduled to take begin at San Diego State University's Viejas Arena on August 1 and conclude at Harrah's Resort on August 9.

A$AP Yams Laid To Rest Over The Weekend

Earlier in the week, close friends and family of A$AP Yams (born Steven Rodriguez) said goodbye to the A$AP Mob member during a memorial service held at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in New York City.

Vibe.com reports that the service was attended by about 100 people. The chapel was reportedly adorned with flowers while Yams’ casket featured an image of the A$AP Mob founder riding a unicorn while wearing a Coogi sweater and adidas sandals.

Those in attendance at the service received laminated “In Loving Memory Of” cards, which featured the following tweet from the late A$AP Mob member: “if i die before i wake i pray that A$AP will be great my momma good and my girl be late so It’ll be another me and the world be straight.”

A$AP Rocky and other members of A$AP Mob reportedly attended a private service.

A$AP Yams passed away earlier this month at the age of 26. The cause of his death has yet to be revealed. Friend and fellow A$AP Mob member, A$AP Rocky criticized those who have suggested that a drug overdose was the cause of Yams’ death. He spoke on the matter during a recent interview with Billboard.com.

“People were saying that Yams overdosed on drugs — he didn’t overdose on any drugs,” A$AP Rocky said, according to Vibe.com. “I feel like people feel that way because that’s all he’s in pictures doing. When you see A$AP Yams you see Hennessey or purple drink, you see some type of controlled substance or illegal narcotic.”

J Cole On "Fire Squad": "It's Not Even Iggy Azalea's Fault,She's Chasing Her Dream"

J. Cole recently stopped by the Combat Jack Show to discuss a wide range of topics via digital podcast.

During the two-hour sit-down, Cole reflected on his 2014 Forest Hills Drive album, "Fire Squad", wanting to sign Kendrick Lamar and more.

After describing his volatile childhood experience, Cole spoke openly about Jay's response to the album and its commercial success.

"He was fuckin' with it," Cole said in regards to his label boss's critiques. "We had a crazy talk it just so happened my album was about everything we talked about...He gave me amazing feedback on the album."

Cole also says he had no clue that 2014 Forest Hills Drive would be the highest selling Hip Hop album of the year. Prior to its release, Cole explained that although he knew it was his best effort thus far, he had to come to grips with his self that the album might flop, due to its uncanny promotion.

After Combat Jack played "Fire Squad" on the broadcast, Cole shared his thoughts behind his fierce last verse.

"I'd never go at Eminem," he confesses. "It's not even Iggy Azalea's fault, she's chasing her dream. It doesn't matter the quality of her music but I have to comment, it's my job to tell you what's on my mind in the slickest way ever...When history is told Macklemore is in them books, Iggy Azalea's in them books."

Cole also spoke about his relationship with Kendrick and detailed the first time he ever met the T.D.E. rapper.

It was 2010, when they first crossed paths to Cole's knowledge, at a party in L.A. An unknown Kendrick performed and Cole says, he had to let him know he was ill. Kendrick eventually sent him a couple of records and ever since, Cole has felt "compelled" to give him jewels because he knew what Kendrick was going through.

"I wanted to sign this nigga," Cole says. " I was like 'who the fuck is a Top Dawg?' Then it turned into some shit where he blew the fuck up and reached levels that I haven't reached. I didn't know that nigga' would go platinum before me."

Puff Daddy & Snoop Dogg To Perform At Hot 97's "The Tip-Off" During NBA All-Star Weekend

New York City-based radio station Hot 97 will host what they’ve described as “the premier event to be at” during NBA All-Star Weekend.

Hot 97 personalities Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg will take the helm as hosts for the one-day event, which will take place at the Theater At Madison Square Garden.

“With such a momentous event coming to New York, HOT 97 definitely had to be a part of it,” Deon Levingston, HOT 97 General Manager said in a statement. “HOT 97’s ‘The Tip-Off’ not only brings two of Hip Hop’s legends together on one stage, but also sets the electrifying tone for basketball’s biggest weekend.”

In addition to performances from Snoop and Puff, the event will also welcome sets from Hot 97’s own DJ Camilo, DJ Enuff, and Funkmaster Flex.

Tickets for “The Tip-Off” start at $59. They are currently available for purchase on Ticketmaster.com.

NBA All-Star Weekend takes place in New York City this year. The annual celebration has welcomed a number of events hosted by Hip Hop artists in the past.

In 2010, Drake and the Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James hosted an event at NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas, Texas. And last year, along with Juvenile and Rick Ross, James was in attendance at a NBA All-Star Weekend GQ event in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Mike Tyson Discusses New Song "Iconic" Featuring Madonna & Chance The Rapper

"Doing the song with Madonna makes me think this [music career] could really happen," Tyson says.
Early last week, Grammy Award-winning singer Madonna released the tracklist for her upcoming album, Rebel Heart.
Nas, Nicki Minaj and Chance The Rapper are scheduled to feature on the project, but one of the more peculiar guest appearances is former boxing heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson.
The boxer-turned-actor, who appears on the record “Iconic” with Madonna and Chance The Rapper, recently spoke with Rolling Stone to discuss how the song came about and his inspiration for the cut.
"Madonna calls you and tells you to come somewhere, you go," Tyson says. "I didn't know what the hell I was going there for. I'm just there having a good time and hanging out with Madonna. She has her producer there and I go into the studio and I didn't know if she wanted me to talk or rap. I just go in there and start talking. I'm talking about my life and things that I have endured. I'm saying some really crazy stuff. It was really intense."
Tyson — who says his part of the song, which he ad-libbed, was done in one take — also spoke about the historical Italian politician to whom he drew inspiration from while making the record.
"When I did it, I think about being some guy like [Benito] Mussolini and they're really arrogant, but you try to come from a positive perspective and be uplifting. You watch Mussolini on television — even though we don't understand what he's saying — he is so mesmerizing. I look at myself in that way.
"I know people may say 'this guy's a fascist' and all this stuff, but man, you can take positivity from watching him," Tyson adds. "No wonder why Hitler was attracted to him. This guy's a hypnotic figure. There's so much pride behind what he's saying. I'm not even Italian and I feel the pride he's projecting. He had that street swag; he was doing this stuff with his hands and moving his head before it was even hip-hop."
Elsewhere, Tyson spoke on his musical aspirations, following the record.
"Doing the song with Madonna makes me think this [music career] could really happen," Tyson says. "Most guys that come in there drink a bunch of liquor or smoke 100 blunts. I just went in and boom, one take. Everyone thought it was cool."

Police Think Kevin Gates Is The Main Witness In Concert Shooting

Kevin Gates was performing in Lexington, Kentucky over the weekend when a shooting occurred at the show that left one man wounded and some people injured after the crowd stampeded for the exit. Now police believe Gates can help them solve who was apart of the shooting.
According to reports, the police believe Gates had the best view of the shooting from the stage and want to talk with him about it. The rapper has kept his mouth shut so far.
“Cops were called to Gates’ show in Lexington early Sunday morning after shots were fired. One person suffered a non-life threatening wound … and a few others were hurt when part of the audience stampeded for the exit.
Law enforcement sources tell us cops think Gates’ position at the time of the shooting — up on the stage — gave him a unique vantage point, and they’re hoping he saw something or someone.
If he did, Gates didn’t let on that night — we’re told he actually performed 3 more songs after the shooting … all while standing in the remaining crowd.” (TMZ)
