Lil Wayne Talks Birdman Rift, "The Free Weezy" Album & Retirement

Lil Wayne has broken his silence regarding his Cash Money Records status.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Weezy jokes about the Tweets he shared last December that exposed his troubles with his father figure, Birdman, and his "prisoner" status on the label he has belonged to since age 12.
Wayne told the publication that he and Birdman are currently not speaking to one another. He says that he has "no words" for Baby and truthfully, he's "super-numb" to the situation.
Rolling Stone was able to reach the rapper by phone last week. Although he wasn't open to talk about the pending lawsuit, he did discuss the status of Tha Carter V, his forthcoming Free Weezy album and the possibility of retiring in the near future.
According to WayneTha Carter V, is "super-done."
"Cake baked, icing on top, name on top, candles lit," he says. "I would have released it yesterday if I could. But it's a dead subject right now. It's a jewel in the safe. It's that stash-house money."
As for The Free Weezy Album, which is slated to be released in March, Wayne says he is "working on it every day."
"I guarantee it's going to be something dope," he says. "If you don't want a musician being creative, don't get The Free Weezy Album."
Elsewhere in the interview, Wayne mentions that he listens to newer artists like Rae Sremmurd and Migos. He also admit to considering retirement.
"I've thought about it," he says. "But for a person like me that bleeds, eats, sleeps and shits music, it's hard to do."
