Tory Lanez Responds To Roddy Ricch's Accusation Of Biting "Ricch Forever"

Tory Lanez Responds To Roddy Ricch's Accusations Of Biting "Ricch Forever"

Tory Lanez defended himself via social media after being accused of biting Roddy Ricch’s work. The outspoken artist, who often drops remixes and freestyles using popular instrumentals, was called out by Roddy for using the West Coast rapper’s “Ricch Forever” beat in a Fargo Fridays series song titled “Watch For Your Soul.”

“u can’t bite no harder than this,” Roddy wrote in an Instagram comment. “@torylanez i thought we was better than this.”

Tory responded, “I used your beat because I loved your version and wanted to tell my own story about my dog that got killed. I didn’t use anything of yours but a Beat (Millions of niggas go on other beats everyday).”

He then told Roddy he wanted to take the conversation off social media since they have each other’s phone numbers.

Tory’s desire to move the conversation away from social media didn’t stop him from elaborating about the creation of “Watch For Your Soul” though. In a separate Instagram post, he slammed claims of jacking Roddy’s style.

“I made this song about my dead homie … Idgaf what y’all niggas is talking bout right now,” he explained. “It really means nothing .. I went on @roddyricch beat cuz I got luv for his music . And his song . I even did certain things in the song to pay tribute/homage to his song and show love .. not for y’all to tell me Im biting someone who ain’t been in the game making PLATINUM records with THIS style for even half the time I have.”

He added, “One thing I want y’all to stop doing tho . Is acting as if my voice ain’t been the same for the last 9 years .. and that I don’t play a part in a lot of these new niggas sounds and styles . First time I met him he told me I inspired him . Y’all niggas can be funny man . But fuck it … let’s just enjoy the music.”

Kanye West Reportedly Denounces Secular Music Forever

As Kanye West inches closer to releasing Jesus Is King to the public, there are already a handful of select people who have heard the project in its entirety.

Among them is Chicago music industry insider and Valee’s manager Andrew Barber, who says the Kanye who created “Gold Digger” and “Famous” is no more. According to a recent tweet, ‘Ye will only make spiritual music.

“Kanye also announced that he is no longer making secular music,” Barber wrote on Saturday (September 28). “Only Gospel from here on out.”

Although Jesus Is King failed to arrive on Friday (September 27) as originally planned, Kim Kardashian announced the album would materialize on Sunday (September 29) in one of her Instagram Stories.

While not much is known about the project, Barber revealed ‘Ye reunites Clipse [Pusha T and No Malice] on one of the tracks and said the production is a combination of past Kanye albums.

“It was great to hear the Clipse on a song together again,” he tweeted. “Hopefully this feature on the Kanye album opens the door for another project from Push & No Malice. I think a good shoulder / bad shoulder album from them would go crazy.”

He added, “The beats on Jesus Is King sounded fire. He definitely pulled from elements of previous sounds that people loved from WTT, 808s, Yeezus, Cruel Summer & MBDTF and put a gospel spin on them. Of course I need to hear them again, but they were knocking on the sound system he had.”
